BELIEVE IN PEACE
John Lennon, the legendary Beatle and peace activist, believed that war and conflict were rooted in fear, lack of empathy and understanding. He spoke out against institutions and systems that create or exploit these sentiments for their own nefarious ends. He believed we have the power and the obligation to act. “Peace is not something you wish for; it’s something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away,” he said.
"Believe in Peace" is our response. The pieces in this collection are diverse in terms of mood, style and message, yet bound by the same overarching goal: to confront the devastating effects of conflict on individuals and societies, while never giving up on peace. We hope to encourage reflection and introspection, promote the sharing of ideas and experiences, break down cultural barriers, and help people connect with like-minded others--spurring new peace-building efforts. We donate 50% of our profits to charities aligned with our mission.
The seed for this collection was planted on February 26, 2022—two days into Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine—when we reached out to the talented young Volodymyr Olshynetskyi with a proposal to work on a collection together. He received our message just as the first Russian tanks rumbled into Mykolaiv, the bombed-out city he once called home.
While the war in Ukraine provided the impetus for Believe in Peace, the locus has since shifted to the global stage. By popular demand, we're creating an exciting series of street scenes from major cities around the world. Each composition in this series features a mural of Volodymyr’s spectacular flight of doves, metaphorically setting the world free of the scourge of war.
